Policies

These poilices are intend to ensure the well being of the wiki. It is not the intent to restrict users however as in any endeavour of society, boundaries are an unfortunate necessity.

The policies are currently under development and are subject to change without notice. You are advised to review them regularly and are free to comment on them on the discussion tab of this page.


Content Policy


  • ShootingWiki recognizes that many shooter at the club level and even national level don’t only participate in “Olympic style” events, indeed many shooters never do. Therefore the ShootingWiki has an inclusive policy for other disciplines.
  • Content should be relevant to ISSF style shooting or generic shooting. Articles that are discipline specific should be placed in the document tress of that discipline.
  • Hunting and Blood Sports are not part of the Olympic Games or the ISSF, the primary focus of the site, and are therefore are out of the scope of this wiki. ShootingWiki is neutral on this issue, and without prejudice to those who do choose to participate, ShootingWiki chooses not to do so. Information related to these activities should not be added to the wiki.
  • Content should be written from a neutral, factual perspective and without bias towards personal views.
  • ShootingWiki is not free advertising space. All product type information must be neutral free of competitive bias. Claims performance should be publicly verifiable.
  • Direct Advertising of products or services is not acceptable.

Do not upload any files, particularly pictures or enter any texts to which you do not own the copyright.

Your act of uploading / entering materials on to this wiki will be seen as, Your granting license to publish materials that You own, as part of this wiki and any other related purpose.

Please Note: All texts that have been donated to the wiki, with permission to publish, are marked with the Blue Copyright Symbol (above) and the Copyright remains with the owner. These texts do not come under the GNU Free Documentation License 1.2. and may not be re-published without permission from the owner.

If you have received permission to publish some else’s work please provide the moderators with a copy of that permission first.

If you wish to publish materials belonging to a manufacturer or other organization please contact the moderators first. We have a good relationship with several manufacturers and organizations any may have already have been given permission to use the materials concerned. If we have not we will be happy to contact them on your behalf and attempt to obtain such permission. Failing that we may be able to provide an alternative.

Materials that violate this policy will be deleted and persistent violators may be banned for the site.

In cases of dispute the material concerned will be removed until the mater is resolved.

If you are aware of any copyright violation, please contact the moderators ( moderators@shootingwiki.org) or the Administrator (admin@shootingwiki.org) and we will review the matter and act accordingly.


Moderation Policy


All provided content will be reviewed by the Moderators who will mark the changes as “patrolled”.

Moderators may remove unsuitable content, or content the does not conform the Wiki Policies. It is normal practice for moderator to communicate where possible directly with the individual who’s text is being removed. The purpose of this communication is encourage further participation and to guide it in to a suitable direction.

Persistent offenders who openly fail to comply with the policies may well find them selves banned for the site. This will be handled discreetly and on a case by case basis.

Vandalism will not be tolerated.

Writing Guidelines

Content should be written from a neutral, factual perspective and with out bias towards personal views.

Personal writing which may include personal views, for example included article, may be acceptable, provided it is clearly formatted as marked as such and It is clear who the views belong to. If in doubt you should contact the moderators.

Content should be relevant to ISSF style shooting or generic shooting. Articles that are discipline specific should be placed in the document tress of that discipline.

Shooting Wiki is an information source and not free advertising space. All product type information must be neutral free of competitive bias. Claims performance should be publicly verifiable. Direct Advertising of products or services is not acceptable.
